Anti-TNF in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and related disorders

Abstract EN

Background : Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is the prototype of inflammatory connective tissue diseases that causes increased morbidity and mortality world wide.

Various disease modifying drugs are employed in treating RA aiming to prevent deformities and hinder disease progression.

Objectives : In this overview, we discuss a new group pf drugs that have been used successfully in treating RA and other connective tissue disorders known as Biological agents or Anti-TNF Therapy.

A definition of the main available agents is given with its efficacy profile, important drug trials, and most observed side effects.

Conclusion : Various well designed studies showed that Anti-TNF therapy has slowed down the progression of RA and improved the prognosis.
