Abstract EN

This research aims at identifying the nature of the currently used system of the teaching practicum of the faculty of education in ibb university.

It also proposes an alternative program for a better performance.

This program consists of the program objectives, general and specific aims of practicum, content and teaching procedures and activities and finally assessment techniques.

For the purpose of evaluating both the teacher and the trainers in the practicum process, the researcher has prepared an evaluator tool which consists of 33 items.

In order to find out the validity of this tool, copies were given to a number of specialists who showed no objection.

As for as reliability in concerned, The researchers has used the contingency coefficient test across time.

Using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient was 0.87.

The findings of the research were as follows: first, the present practicum system was found to suffer from bad supervision, control and follow up.

Second, there was the problem of the shortage of time allotted to the practicum program.

Third, there was also the problem of dominating the theoretical side over the practical one in training the prospective teachers.

Finally, it was found that there was a mismatch between the academic and educational content one the hand, and the red life situations of the target fielder the other.

The research papas con-clueless by the researcher giving some recommendations.

It is recommended that the present practicum program should be reassessed so that it matches real life demands.

The amount of time of the practicum session should be increased to became 14 weeks.

It is also recommend that a balance should be striker between the theoretical and practical sides of the academic and educational preparation programs and syllabi of the faculty of education.
