Abstract EN

The organized efforts of European Geographical explorations that led to the discovery of the New World (the American Continent) were made at the time when the Ottoman State was at its peak of predominance and expansion.

With this mind, the writer of the present study discusses analytically and objectively the reasons underlying the failure of the Ottoman state to compete with European maritime fleets and to secure material and moral gains and procure historical right in the New World, which Europe enjoyed in this field, bearing in mind, too, that the Ottoman state at that time was sole political authority representing the Muslim nation.
