Notes on the subterranean plants of gymnarrhena micrantha desf. (asteraceae)‎ in Saudi Arabia

Purely subterranean plants are reported for the amphichroic plant, Gymnarrhena micrantha Desf.

(Asteraceae).

The flowers of the subterranean plants are entirely different from that of the above ground heads.

They are described and illustrated for the first time.

The differences between the flowers of the subterranean and terrestrial plants have been brought out.

A brief description about the vasculature of the florets and the morphology of the hairs on the per carp are also included.
