Nine plant communities: Calotropis procera, Francoeuria crispa, Artemisia manosperma, Rhazya stricta, Rhanterium epapposum, Moltkiopsis ciliata-Heliotropium digynum, Centropodia jorsskalei, Lasiurus hirsutus, and Centropodia jorsskalei-Panicumturgidum, form distinct vegetation units along Riyadh Al-Thumamah road in the central region, of Saudi Arabia.

The former community is dominated by shrubby species, while the latter communities are dominated by herbaceous species that belong to the perennial grassland form or woody perennial form.

Climatic aridity, edapic characteristics, grazing, habitat disturbence by man, all contribute to the composition, structure and the pattern of distribution of these contribute to the composition, structure and the pattern of distribution of these communities.
