تضمن البحث تحضير صبغة ألازو -2 (-2 نفثيل أزو) -5,4- ثنائي فنيل اميدازول من خلال التفاعل الديدزة بين -2 نفثيل أمين و -4,5 ثنائي فنيل اميدازول في محلول كحولي قاعدي.
و قد تم تشخيص الليكاند بواسطة التحليل الدقيق للعناصر، طيف الأشعة فوق البنفسجية-المرئية و طيف الأشعة تحت الحمراء.
كما تضمن البحث تقدير أيوني الكوبلت (II) و النحاس (II) باستخدام هذا الليكاند حيث أن التفاعل بين الليكاند المذكور و الأيونات الفلزية يكون سريع و حساس عند الطول الموجي للامتصاص الأعظم (556 - 550) نانو متر و دالة حامضية (5,9 – 9,2) لمعقدي الكوبلت (II) و النحاس (II) على التوالي و بنسبة مولية 2 : 1 (فلز : ليكاند) و كانت التراكيز التي تطاوع قانون بير مساوية إلى (4- 10 x 5 – 4- 10 x 1) مولاري لمعقد الكوبلت (II) و للنحاس (II) كانت (5-10 x 5 – 5- 10 x 1) مولاري و قيمة معامل الامتصاص المولاري (1550 – 2250) = Є لتر.

سم1- للمعقدين على التوالي، كذلك شخصت المعقدات المحضرة بواسطة نفس الطرق المستخدمة في تشخيص الليكاند.
Abstract EN
In this study the ligand 2- (2- naphthyl azo) -4,5-diphenyl imidazole was prepared by the reaction between 2-naphthyl amine and 4,5-diphenyl imidazole in alkaline alcoholic solution.
The ligand was examined by using element analysis, UVVis. and infrared spectra.
Also this research involved the rapid and sensitive determination of cobalt (II) and copper (II) using this ligand at (λmax = 550 and 556) nm and pH ( 9.2 and 5.9) respectively and the mole ratio was 1 : 2 (metal : ligand).
Beer ̀s law is obeyed in the range (1 x 10-4- 5 x 10-4) M of Co (II) and (1 x 10-5-5 x 10-5) M of Cu (II) with molar absorpitivity (Є = 2250-1550) L.

cm-1 respectively, also these complexes were examined by using the same methods.
