Abstract EN

This paper studies linguistic competence in terms of meaning, application, development, and implicative issues in applied linguistics.

This investigation presents the Arabic studies focusing on the development of linguistic competence in addition to link this competence to its synonyms such as preparation, capability, talent, mental scheme and their relationship to performance.

Moreover, this research also examines the different competences pertaining to the area of language including communication competence, cultural competence, and methodological competence.

While explaining the nature of these competences: the research stresses linguistic competence as an influential element in current educational systems.

In order to explore the effect of linguistic competence on education, the role of linguistic competence in education as well as its link to certain kinds of educational curricula are emphasized.

This paper will focus on the following elements: First Section: the term “competence” First: The meaning of competence - in dictionaries and old sources.
