Abstract EN

The paper at hand seeks in its first part to introduce feminism in literature and criticism as manifested through different trends embracing significantly what various alternatives, aspirations and goals are imbued in the term feminism, thus proving (hat feminism is not restricted to one ideological school, even if in its totality, it evolves around biological and social dimensions.

I In its second part, the study attempts to highlight the link between feminist criticism with other trends in literary criticism relating to Marxism, structuralism, and deconstructionism, emphasizing how the last in particular has offered new potentials within feminism to liberate women from patriarchal modes and structures of thinking.

Hence, feminism has proved to be capable of accommodating relations between both theories of politics and theories of criticism.

The paper is also concerned with presenting some of the most important feminist theorists whose roles in developing feminist literary theory cannot possible be undermined.

In the course of the presentation, obstacles which faced both French and Anglo-American feminist theories; will be pinpointed, drawing attention to the inherent link between these theories and crucial historical events.
