Abstract EN

The reality of Arab universities needs a serious stand in order to examine the errors occurred in its objectives and operations which led to its present scientific outputs in the various fields of life.

The reality of university education in the Arab world indicates to the presence of about 286 universities, 5 million students and about 200 thousand faculty members.

This increase is due to many reasons, including population explosion, development projects, preserving heritage and culture projects, spread of culture and science.

It could not meet the needs of Arab society and labor market as well as it could not cope with the scientific and technological progress or other noble objectives despite the increase in universities every year.

The researcher reached several results, most important are that universities are recent and few numbers , lack of absorption of the output of secondary education, weak financial budgets and management, lack of ability to solve their problems, poor scientific research, lack of coordination with production institutions, and teaching most science subjects in foreign languages.

Therefore, the researcher has several recommendations, namely and most importantly, to open a lot of private and public universities, to review universities’ goals so as to serve scientific and sustainable development, to develop its educational systems and acceptance conditions, to give attention to scientific research institutions and linking them to production institutions.

Also he recommends to encourage female educational institutions and to Arabize university education.
