Abstract AR
Abstract EN
In this study out of 45 water samples from different water sources (well water, agriculture drainage water and tank drinking water) were used to determine and evaluate the level of heavy metals (cadmium, lead, copper and iron) and also to examined bacteriologically.
40 calves of 75 examined were clinically diseased and showed diarrhea, indigestion, inappitance, offensive feces and losses of body weight at Abu- Swear farms, which is located in Ismailia.
These studies included total bacterial count, bacterial-ogical, and biochemical examination.
The total colony count from positive samples revealed high increase in sewage water followed by tank water (100% & 80%).
The bacteriolo-gycal isolation results from water and fecal samples of calv-es revealed that the most common isolates were E.coli, Sal-monella, k.
pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeurginosa, Edwars-iella species, Enterobacter agglomerans, Citrobacter freun-dis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermides, Micrococcus, and Streptococcus faecales with different percentage.
High concentration of cadmium and iron in tank water and agriculture sewage water compared to that of well Water.
There were significant increase in RBCs count, Hb concentration, and PCV value.
There were also neutrophilic leukocytosis, eosinophilia, and monocytosis.
Serum biochemical examination revealed that there were disturbance in liver and kidney function tests and increased level of cadmium and iron in blood serum in diseased calves.
The results of this study indicate that high levels of some heavy metals and microorganisms in water samples that collected from the same localities in Ismailia are not accepted as safe for food or drinking water for either animals or human purposes
