The cognitive semantic depth of translating eponyms in the discourse

Abstract EN

Several studies noted within the framework of semantics that it is essential to tackle the cognitive issues that take perception, thought and language usage to be only tangentially and not directly related to one another.

The dominant view stated that cognitive theories are the pillars of the human mind.

They constitute quite different tokens of knowledge impetuses and hence, belong to distant parts of our meticulous tidy cognitive architecture of Idealized Cognitive Model (ICM).

The various models of the current study coordinated within the domains of the discourse to form the perceptual inputs, knowledge entries, central processors to handle thought and other executive mental functions of the semantic depth of coherence in Glorious Qura'nic text.

The figurative tropes and the perceptual processes were intercepted in this study, served as important source of grounding the concept formation and imaginative understanding in discourse.

The eponym is a figurative trope that is highly dependent on the knowledge entries and the contexts of the discourse it occurs.

The study concluded that the figurative tropes–and eponyms are one of them–are the indications that demonstrated the use of the common ground data, beliefs, knowledge entries, attitudes and cultures shared by interlocutors in the compounded discourse.

In order to show these issues, this study took the cases of eponyms and the translating processes, as intertwined notions, then they were analyzed in the Glorious Qur'anic texts.

This sort of interception between the translating theory and one of the figurative tropes in the Glorious Qur'anic text has an impact on the discourse contours, and understanding the rendered meanings of Glorious Qur'anic texts by English language receptors.
