Sample expanding technique for par reduction in OFDM Systems

Abstract EN

The use of OFDM system in modern communications is mainly limited by the non-linearity of power amplifier combined with OFDM’s high peak-to-average power ratio.

In this paper, a proposed technique is suggested to reduce the Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR).

Such technique is based on nonlinear expanding of the samples at the IFFT input of transmitter.

The receiver structure includes a compression operation to achieve correct detection.

Computer simulation tests have been carried out to examine the performance of the suggested technique.

The tests show the ability of such technique to reduce the PAR with no major effect on the system performance as compared with the conventional OFDM technique.
