Ethyl (2E)-4-bromo-3-ethoxybut-2-enoate (2) and ethyl (2E)-3-ethoxy-4-(2-and 4- nitrophenoxy)but-2-enoates (4 and 5) have been synthesized and used as syntheses for the preparation of some new ethyl (2Z)-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-ylideneacetate (6), 1-(substituted phenyl)-4-hydroxy-1,5-dihydro-2H-pyrrol-2-ones (9) and 4-ethoxy-1-(4-bromophenyl)-1,5- dihydro-2H-pyrrole-2-ones (11).

The structures of all synthesized compounds were confirmed by elemental analyses, IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
