Tetrakis carbohydrazides 3a-c and 4a-b result from reaction of hydrazinocarbonyls 1 and2 with four equivalents of aryl chlorides.
Compounds 3a-c and 4a-b were treated with phosphorus ox chloride to induce cyclisation and dehydration to the desired 1, 3, 4-oxadiazoles5a-c and 6a-b.
