Abstract EN

This study attempts to cover the most works that has achieved by German philologists on Arabic Literature.

And examines various ways of defining the heeds and the philological roles of those scholars.

This article examines also the body of taught produce by the German philologists and discover how and what extent these kind of works can be applied to the problems of Arabic Literature especially on Pre-Arabic Poetry.

I have tried to develop a practical and convenient classification of German linguistically works on Arabic, which a newcomer can readily have a wide idea about it.

A survey of this kind severs two purposes.

First, it establishes a common frame of references about efforts and modern German studies on Arabic.

Second, show some views of German philologists on some complicate Arabic literary issues, namely, ancient Arabic poetry, writing, the epical and dramatical character of Pre-Arabic Poetry.
