هدف البحث: يمثل المغص اضطراريا تلاحظ فيه نوبة بكاء خارج السيطرة عند الرضيع و تحدث عادة في أوقات متوقعة من الليل أو النهار.
يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد نسب استخدام تقنيات التهدئة المختلفة، و كيفية تهدئة الأمهات لأطفالهن الرضع عند البكاء.
طرق البحث: شملت الدراسة 421 من الأمهات مع أطفالهن الرضع البالغين من العمر 6 أشهر فما دون من مدينة الحلة.
تم استخدام نموذج استبياني يتضمن معطيات حول جنس الرضيع، عمر الأم ومستواها التعليمي (المقاس بسلم نقاط من 0 إلى 6 و ذلك من مرحلة الأمية إلى مرحلة التدريب بعد الجامعي(، كما يتضمن السؤال حول 21 طريقة تهدئة تستخدمها الأمهات عند بكاء أطفالهن الرضع.
تم ملئ الاستبيانات من خلال مقابلة الأمهات بشكل مباشر.
تم تحليل البيانات من خلال البرنامج الإحصائي SPSS (النسخة 15).
النتائج: لوحظ أن التقنية الأكثر استخداما من قبل الأمهات هي حمل الطفل الرضيع (93.1 %), أما التقنيات الأخرى الشائعة الاستخدام فشملت هز الرضيع (91.7 %), تدليك البطن (87.9 %), أخذ الرضيع إلى السرير (87.2 %), إرضاع الرضيع من الثدي (68.4 %), التقميط (64.6 %), وضع الطفل بوضعية الكب (64.1 %), استخدام الموسيقى (62.5 %), إعطاء رضعة مسائية صناعية (53.7 %), الاستحمام (51.1 %), كما فضلت ثلث الأمهات (36.1 %) استخدام اللهاية.
استخدمت الأعشاب كوسيلة لتهدئة الرضع في 16.4 % من الحالات، بينما تم استخدام المسكنات من قبل 33 % من الأمهات.
لوحظ استخدام الخنق و الصفع من قبل 46 و 11 من الأمهات على الترتيب كوسيلة لتهدئة الطفل.
الاستنتاجات : لوحظ وجود تأثير كبير للاختلافات الثقافية في اختيار التقنية المتبعة لتهدئة الطفل.
تم في هذه الدراسة إيراد وجود طرق خطرة في تهدئة الأطفال الرضع مثل الصفع و الخنق.
Abstract EN
Objective: Colic is a disorder in which an infant has episodes of uncontrollable crying, which often occurs at a predictable times of day or night.
The aim of this work is to determine the frequency rate of various calming techniques, and how mothers soothed their crying infants.
Methods: Four hundred twenty one mothers with infants of six months old or below were recruited in this study in Hilla city.
A questionnaire comprise on the gender of the baby, mother age and her education level (measured on a scale of 0-6 from illiterate, to postgraduate training), and asking about 21 calming methods of how the mothers soothed her crying baby.
It was completed through direct interviews of the mothers.
Data were analyzed using the statistical package SPSS (version 15.0).
Results: The most common quieting technique used by mothers was holding and carrying the infant (93.1%).
The other common techniques were infant rocking (91.7%), abdominal massage (87.9%), taking to bed (87.2%), administer breast feeding (68.4%), swaddling infant (64.6%), prone sleeping position (64.1%), music (62.5%), night bottle (53.7%), bathing (51.1%), and around one third (36.1%) of mothers preferred to use pacifier.
Herbs were used as a remedy for soothing crying infants in (16.4%).
Pain killer was used by 33% of mothers to quiet their babies.
Forty six mothers and another 11 mothers had used smothering and slapping of their infants as calming techniques respectively.
Conclusions: There was a clear effect of cultural differences in the selection of calming technique.
A potentially injurious methods for calming infants such as slapping, and smothering was reported in this study.
