Abstract EN
It has been known in the last several years that using of alternative medicine such as botanicals and nutritional supplements has became popular with inflammatory and cancer cases.
Therefore, the goal of this study was to investigate the role played by phytic acid (IPe) in improve the damage exerted on the immune system by Aflatoxin Bi (AFBi) treatment in male albino rats.
Eighty five white male albino rats {Rattus norvegicus) were randomly grouped into four groups (20 rats each), and five rats were sacrificed before divided the rats into groups at the beginning of the experiment (Week 0) for estimating all parameters studied in the present work.
We have chosen carefully eleven immunological parameters in the present study to testify the immune response to AFBi carcinogens, and to what extent treatment with phytic acid (IPe) may improve their damage effect due to AFBi application.
, Changes in immunological parameters in rats of different groups revealed multiple trends.
Few significant changes were noted in the total leucocytes counts which showed sharp increase during the first two weeks in rats treated with AFBi (Group II and III) then followed by slight decrease during the last two weeks of the experimental period.
Changes in differential count of leucocytes revealed significant increases in percent of both lymphocyte, monocyte and basophil during the first two weeks in rats treated with AFBi but these increases tend to decrease when the rats treated with phytic acid while neutrophil and eosinophil percent revealed opposite trend.
Treating rats with AFBi for two weeks suppressed some of immunological parameters such as phagocytic activity and macrophage migration inhibition factor (Mil index), but treating rats with phytic acid during the last two weeks improved this functions.
On the other hand, chemokinetic indices, chemotactic movement as well as total immunoglobulin revealed sharply increases during the first two weeks due to treatment the rats with AFBi but these increases tend to decrease up to the end of experimental period (4 weeks).
In conclusion, our data in the present study indicated that phytic acid play a big role in improve the damage exerted on the immune system in albino rats due to AFBi treatment.
