Compressive strength of gypsum product with various sulfates

Abstract EN

Gypsum products serve dental profession more adequately than any other Materials.

With slight modification gypsum products are used for several different purposes.

For example, impression plaster, to mount casts, and dental stone is used to form a die that duplicates the oral anatomy when poured in to any type of impression.

Gypsum products are also used as a binder for silica, gold alloy casting investments, soldering investment.

These materials (products) are also used a mold materials.

For processing complete dentures Strength of material in dentistry is very important aspect of materials character.

Thus every afford is made to improve strength of auxiliary (Lab) materials to increase their life during processing or fabricating the appliance.

In this study various sulfates were used to improve dental plaster, dental stone and die stone’s compressive strength.

Gypsum products can be improve their compressive strength with certain percentage of sulfate and over use of additives (sulfate) can bring down their strength too.

Among the three additives K2SO4 has shown good result over other sulfates.
