Abstract EN

The main objective of this study is to investigate the necessary teaching skills that female students' teacher at the Department of Physics should acquire to succeed in their teaching job.

The objective was achieved through answering the following questions : First ; what are the necessary teaching skills that fourth level female students at the Department of Physics should have ? Second : What is the level of students' performance measured with the use of observation card during the school-based training ? The study was conducted at the Department of Physic, College of Education, and Sana’a University'.

To conduct this study, a random sample of 29 fourth level female students was selected.

The results of the study revealed that there were 6 general teaching skills the student should have.

The general average performance of the student's in the 6 skills was found to be 2.85 which is in the expected the average (2.20-3.19).

The students' performance results based on each skill were as follows : First ; high performance with averages of 3.26 and 3.20 were achieved respectively in lesson implementation and classroom control skills.

Second : medium performance was achieved in three skills, planning, assessment and educational tools utilization.

The averages were 3.13, 2.69 and 2.53 respectively.

Interestingly, the lowest performance with an average of 1.87 was observed with the scientific knowledge about subject.
