An expedient synthetic method has been developed for the preparation of a properly functionalized pyrrole-imidazole template suitable for the construction of heterodimer bislexitropsins.

The pyrrole-imidazole carboxamide derivatives are connected through the nitrogen atoms of central heterocyclic rings by a tether of bis-ethoxyethane chain.
