Abstract EN

The charge transfer complication between C60 and 1-methylpiperazine, 1-methylpyrrolidine, 1-methylpiperidine, tripentylamine and trihexylamine was studied in toluene using Uv-Vis.

spectrophotometry at 25oC.

The stability constants were determined using the Benesi-Hildebrand equation.

All amines under investigation form 1 : 1 complexes with C60, except -1 methylpiperazine which forms a 2 : 1 complex (amine : C60).

The effect of the alkyl chain and number of nitrogen atoms in the amine molecule on the stability of the complexes are discussed.
