A huge benign phyllodes tumor in 11-year-old girl : a case report and a review of the literature

Abstract EN

Background : phloxes tumor is predominantly a benign tumor, usually occurs in women over the age of 40 years, present as large, sometimes massive tumor with an unevenly belated surface ,there are only few cases reported with this very large tumor at this age on reviewing the literature.

Objective : in this case report the aim is to demonstrate a very rare huge phyllodes tumor in a very young girl and review of literature.

Case presentation : A 11-year-old girl was seen in the outpatient clinic brought by her father.

The history backs to one year when she noticed a small swelling in her left breast, increasing progressively in size until it reached a very big size hanging down to the left hypochondria with a dragging pain occasionally felt.

No significant radiological abnormality.

FNAC demonstrates phloxes tumor.

Elective lumpectomy was done and planned for reconstruction.

Conclusion : although Phyllodes tumor is very rare in young girls, it should be considered as a possible diagnosis for any breast mass.
