Preparation of combined oil inactivated vaccine against infectious laryngotracheitis and fowl cholera diseases

In the present study inactivated single and combined oil emulsified vaccines against infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) and fowl cholera (FC) were experimentally prepared.

Susceptible chickens groups were vaccinated by either of these vaccines at 3 weeks old and then bolstered by the same dose (0.5 ml intramuscularly) at 6 weeks old.

For evaluation of the immunonological responses of these vaccines, blood samples were collected for 12 weeks post first vaccination.

Cellular immune response was evaluated by lymphocyte blast genesis, macrophage activity test and heterophil / lymphocyte ratio (H / L ratio).

The humoral immune responses were evaluated by serum neutralization for ILTV, indirect haemagglutination for FC, and ELISA test for both ILT and FC antibodies.

Results indicated that all types of the experimental prepared vaccines were efficient, safe and immunogenic with significant high immunogenic responses of combined vaccine than the single one.
