Reproductive management of holstein dairy cows and heifers using ovulation synchronization (ovsynch)‎ protocol and electronic estrus detection technologies

The effect of using Ovsynch and fixed-time artificial insemination or pedometer for estrus detection on conception rates in postpartum cows and heifers were studied.

High conception rates were recorded when Ovsynch was used in early than late postpartum period (28.83% vs 23.52).

The conception rates were higher in primiparous than multip-arous animals (37.5% vs 23.0%).

When the pedometer was used for heat detection in postpartum period, the conception rates were higher in early than late postpartum period (19.68% vs 18.03%).

The concep-tion rates were higher in multifarious than primiparous animals (22.20% vs 14.5 %).

Higher conception rates associated with using Ovsynch (P < 0.05) than using pedometer.

Increases the age of heifers, improved the conception rates either with using Ovsynch or pedometer.

Using Ovsynch improved the conception rate than pedometer in heifers.
