Ad-hoc networks are formed of ever-changing collection of mobile nodes that communicate over infrastructure less wireless links.
Quality-of-Service (QoS) routing is the main key function for many applications of ad-hoc networks.
Because finding routes under QoS constraints is a highly complicated problem especially when the scalability problem is a big concern, Heuristic and Evolutionary solutions introduce good tools for that routing problem.
A Bandwidth-constrained Unicast source routing algorithm for ad-hoc networks based on a genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper.
The proposed algorithm is based on the new chromosomal encoding scheme presented in [1] which depends on a link-chromosomal encoding.
Promising results have been obtained; farther investigations are made on the same genetic engine but on bandwidth-constrained routing problem.
Results also showed that the proposed algorithm has acceptable performance for some of heavy QoS constraints.
