Recently, the bit rate of on-line data transmission for multimedia applications within a digital optical fiber networks has formed the main limitation on the properties of the optical fiber cables (OFC), such as Limited-pulse width, Bit rate–Distance product (B.
L) and Dispersion-Limited transmission Length (D-LT), for a digital images transmission, whereas the bit rate of these images depends on the size of their.
Thus, in this paper the properties of (OFC) with and without lossless and lossy images compression methods are evaluated.
The compression ratio of lossy and lossless image compression methods is compared.
Finally, a lossy compression method has satisfied good results.
