Abstract EN
With the recent advances in wireless technologies, wireless networks are becoming a significant part of today’s access networks.
Ad hoc networks are infrastructure less wireless mobile networks.
A video service in ad hoc networks has a great challenge.
In ad hoc networks, route may only exist for a short period of time; the frequent link failures and route changes cause packet losses and reduce the received video quality.
Ad hoc network often has a mesh topology, which implies the likely existence of multiple paths between two nodes.
Using multiple paths for a video session, the video stream can be divided into multiple sub streams and each sub stream is sent on one of the pathsIn this paper, new Coding technique will be introduced, named Group of Picture Multiple Description (GOP MD) coding.
It is a modification to Multiple Description coding that produces two or more bit streams based on the GOP of the video.
GOP MD coding has two important properties ; first, this method decreases the size of the video after encoding the video due to successive frames are encoded together.
Second, the GOP MD coding gives a reasonable time to recover the route between the source and the destination, which leads to a decrease in both the packet loss for the received video, and the delay for the received frames.
