A combined intelligent agent and case based reasoning approach for web-based e-commerce systems

Abstract EN

With the increasing importance of electronic commerce in many organizations which offers opportunities to improve the way that businesses interact with both their customers and their suppliers, the need for intelligent agents to support both customers and suppliers is growing rapidly.

Intelligent agents can be used to facilitate some tasks from those that take place in a commercial transaction moving to a second generation of E-Commerce applications.

This paper presents a framework that uses the complementary properties of case based reasoning approach and agent technology for developing E-Commerce system.

We proposed that using a standard XML-based meta-language, as communication language between agents, is a key to enabling case based reasoning application to integrate with existing information system.

Using XML affords many advantages such as ease of transformation, flexibility of presentation and potential to create hybrid systems easily.

Using Representational State Transfer (REST) approach to send and retrieve XML data adds simplicity and flexibility to the proposed framework.
