Abstract EN

The effects of temperature and initial reagents concentration (H202, Fe(II)), as well as initial contaminant concentration on the degradation rate of 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) in a homogeneous aqueous solution by Fenton reagent were studied.

The reaction was carried out in a completely mixed-batch reactor under fixed water solution pH = 3 and different experimental conditions; operational temperatures varied from 288 to 318 K; 0.441

The effects of these operational conditions on the oxidation reaction rate law were studied.

Mathematical regression of each set of experiments allows the determination of the reaction order and the apparent rate constant.

Finally a general rate law was predicted based on experimental observations.

The results demonstrated that the degradation rate of 2,4-diohlorophenol in the Fenton system could be predicted with a good precision (% error < 14 %) by the equation i^D^O.lSexpC-109/^2)[H2O2]Vl2[Fe(n)]r7[DCP]^051.

The activation energy for the degradation of 2,4-diohlorophenol was determined to be 913 U mol-1
