The study deals with the electrical and thermal conduction of Poly(rnethyl methacrylate)(PMMA)/carbon black (CB) composites of different CB filler concentrations ( 2 wt.%, 6 wt.%, 12 wt.%).
The DC electrical conductivity was studied as a function of filler concentration in the temperature range ( 300 K -450 K ).
It was found that the electrical conductivity increases with increasing both temperature and carbon black concentration.
The observed overall mechanism of electrical conduction has been attributed to the transfer of electrons through the carbon black aggregations distributed in the polymer matrix.
We must point out that the enhancement in the thermal conduction is mainly attributed to the electronic contribution during thermal activation and to increasing of the conductive CB material, i.e, CB concentration in the composite bulk.
It was found that the Lorenz number was decreasing with increasing filler concentrations of carbon black.
