Synthesis of some 2-alkyl-l, 3, 4-oxadiazole-5-thiols, 3-substituted 1, 2, 4-triazole-S-thiol and their derivatives

Abstract EN

In the present work the synthesis of some 3-substuutcd-l,2,4 - triazole-5-thiol and (3-methyl-l,2,4-triazole-5-yl) thioacctic hydrazide were achieved.

The ethyl esters were converted to acid hydrazide by their reaction with hydrazine hydrate in ethanol.

The acid hydrazines were treated with carbon disulfide in potassium hydroxide solution to give 2-alkyl-lJ3,4-oxadiazole-5-thiol.

The reaction of acid hydrazides with substituted benzoic acid and phosphorus oxychloride gave 2~alkyl-5-aryl-lj3,4-oxadiazole.

Treatment of aoid hydrazides with ammonium thiocyanatc gave the corresponding thiosemicarbazides, which were then treated with sodium hydroxide solution to give substituted 1,2,4-triazole.

Treatment of 3-mcthyl-l,2,4-triazole-5-thiols with chloroacetic acid then with hydrazine hydrate give 3-methyl-ls2,4-triazole-5-yl) thioacetic acid.

The structures of the compounds were confirmed by physical and spectral means.
