Mgo.5Nio.5GdxFe2_x04 ferrites were prepared by the solid state reaction method and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and magnetization measurements.

The X-ray diflraction patterns indicate the formation of a single spinel phase in the range 0.00 < x < 0.04.

However, the structural parameters calculations and saturation magnetization measurements indicate that a single well-behaved spinel phase cannot be obtained for x> 0.02.
