Abstract EN
The aim of this prospective clinical study was to show the efficacy of the Braunwald clinical classification for early diagnosis of unstable angina (UA), by using certain clinical and para-clinical markers.
100 Yemeni patients (88 patients and 12 controlled samples) were followed up in Al-maarof specialized private clinic in Aden for 3 years from December 2004 to December 2007.
We tried, not only to determine the significance of each marker in patients with significant stenosis and those with nosignificant stenosis, but also to test the role of these markers in patients with different significant lesions.
The results showed, that patients with multiple lesions had higher rates of acute resting angina(class III), secondary and post MI-angina, age > 60, male gender, DM, new ST deviation > 0.05 mV, transient ST-T changes, elevated Troponin, elevated C-reactive protein(CRP) and LVEF <35 %.
We concluded that the application of Braunwald clinical guidelines of UA in our patients represents an effective tool, not only for early diagnosis, but also for early risk stratification proved by coronary angiography.
