Synthesis of iron (III)‎ complex of polyester and study of its liquid crystalline and catalytic properties

Abstract EN

This work includes synthesis of Iron complex which derived from complex of N, N-bis (4-Hydroxy salicylidene) ethylene diamine Iron and diacid chloride .It was characterized by UV, IR spectroscopy and C.H.N analysis and its thermal stability was determined by thermogravemetric analysis (TGA).

The polyester was also studied by hot stage polarizing microscope and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).The prepared polyester did not show liquid crystalline properties.

The catalytic activity of the new polymer Iron (III) complex was studied by the determining of the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.

The polyester has the highest decomposition rate value in comparison with ferric chloride and metal complex.
