Effect of ricinine on the behavioural categories and spermatogenesis of laboratory mice

Abstract EN

The present study involves the preparation of an alkaloid Ricinine from the extract of Ricinus communis L.

seeds.

This alkaloid given orally (0.08 mg / gm) in three groups (first group for 10days, second group for 20days, third group for 30 days) of male albino mice compare to the fourth Group (control) which were treated with distill water only, mice in the third group were subjected to "Standard Opponent" tests.

The results of this test showed a significant decrease in all the elements of the test except in the non-Social behavior which gives significant increase, whereas such result showed a significant decline in the social behavior including a number of attacks and proportion of animal fighting.

After that each mice in the third group anaesthetized then anatomized that each of the right and left epididymis have been examined and they showed a significant decrease in sperm concentration and sperm abnormality.
