Abstract EN
A synthesis of porphyrin dyads utilizing meso-tetraphenylporphyrin–diene derivative and [4 + 2]-cycloaddition reaction is described.
The previously prepared in our laboratory porphyrin–[arylsulphonyl-diene] building block, when reacted with N-phenylmaleimide, fumaronitrile, dimethyl fumarate, or C60-fullerene, resulted in the formation of the corresponding Diels-Alder products, which are attractive porphyrinyl dyads, as well as excellent substrates for further transformations.
This method opens up the possibility for synthesis of dyads with variable chromophores in their structures, depending on the type of the dienophiles used.
