Dinuclear group 6 metal tricarbonyls triply bridged by bis (diphenyl-phosphino) alkanes have been prepared and characterized.
The complexes of the general formula fac-{[M (CO) 3] 2 (μ-dppa) 3} [M = W (1), Mo (2), Cr (3) ; dppa = Ph2P (CH2) nPPh2, n = 2 (a), dppe ; 4 (b), dppb; 6 (c), dpph ; 8 (d), dppo ; 10 (e), dppd] have been obtained under very mild reaction conditions from the reaction of M(CO)3(Me3tach) (Me3tach = 1, 3, 5-trimethyl-1, 3, 5-triazacyclohexane) and dppa in a 2 : 3 metal : ligand molar ratio.
These new complexes have been characterized by IR, 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopies and elemental analysis.
It has been observed through this study that the thermodynamic stability of these complexes at room temperature in CH2Cl2 solutions depends on the nature of the metal center and varies in the order W > Mo >> Cr.
