Abstract EN

The time stepping finite elements (TSFE) method is used to investigate the effect of space harmonics on no load and full load direct line starting of induction motor.

The method used in this computation leads to consider only the first or just some significant space harmonics in time stepping finite elements model.

The transient results of starting process are validated with the experimental measurements, and the effect of space harmonics on current, speed and torque are clearly shown.
