Abstract EN
Two complexes E, [C6Ni (urea) (fi-OAc) (tmen) 2] [OTf] and its precursor, F, [CoNi (jU-H20) (jU-OAc)2 (OAc)2 (tmen)2] together with some homo-dinuclear nickel and cobalt acetato- and chloroaceto-bridged complexes were prepared.
The reaction products of E and f with monohydroxamic acids were studied spectroscopically, magnetically and structurally.
Exploiting the ability of the carboxylate ligands to interchange, a ligand interchange experiment was attempted in order to ascertain whether the products were genuine heterometallic Co / Ni complexes or a 50 / 50 mixture of the homonuclear dimers.
