Abstract EN
Fiiphatic amines hexylamine (HCA), octylamine (OCA) and fecylamine (DCA) have been used as corrosion inhibitors for (10 / 3O) brass in 0.
1M HC104.
The inhibitor efficiency (% P) iiculated using weight loss, Tafel extrapolation^ linear polarization ^d impedance methods was found to be in the order DCA > OCA > HCA.
These adsorb on brass surface following Bockris -Swinkels' isotherm.
DCA, OCA and HCA displaced 4, 3 and 2, molecules of water from interface respectively.
Displacement of water molecules brought a great reorganization of double layer at the interface.
These amines during corrosion form complexes with dissolved zinc and copper ions.
