This paper develops an algorithm for correcting cross-frame errors in facsimile transmission for correcting bit errors that degrade image quality and readability.
This degradation is due to the fact that facsimile transmission is lossless and full image reconstruction is essential for quality viewing.
We introduce a correction scheme for cross-frame error with two cases, corrupting and non-corrupting frame flag in facsimile transmission under JBIG (Joint Bi-level Image Experts Group) compression and V.29 modulation.
A prior knowledge of error patterns that have high probability of occurrences is utilized to correct the cross-frame errors.
Our results achieve a high correcting percentage and thus an image recovery.
Furthermore, our results can be used to propose standards and error classifications.
