Cryptosporidiasis in al-Hodeidah City

The present study was carried out during one year (period from 2nd January to 31Th December).

This prospective study was conducted in Thawra hospital which is located in Hodeidah city.

of Yemen).

The programme aims at studying the incidence of cryptoposidium among children admitted in the medical ward of the hospital during the previous period.

We had 42 out of 721 admitted patients to the hospital suffering from diarrhoea caused by infection with cryptoposidium (21 males and 21 females).

The symptoms of the disease were carefully recorded and correlated well with different states of malnutrition observed among groups of children.

Moreover, it has been suggested that inhibition be in immune mechanisms which may be more obvious during the development of malnutrition.
