Effect of internal relief on marginal leakage of complete cast crown

Aim of the study : To evaluate the effect of internal relief (die spacer) on the marginal micro leakage of complete cast crowns.

Material and Methods : Freshly extracted human molars were used in this study.

The teeth were then embedded in individual blocks of acrylic resin, each sample were then receive standardize full crown preparation.

The teeth were than randomly divided into two groups.

For each group, complete cast crowns were made and cemented to their respective prepared teeth.

After thermo cycled the specimens were then immersed in ethylene blue dye ; the specimens were finally sectioned to study the extend of the dye penetration (microleakage).

Results : The incidence and the depth of dye penetration found to be more in the unspaced complete cast crowns.
