Abstract EN

Aim of the study : Myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome (MPDS), especially if the problem is chronic, presents a diagnostic and management challenge to the general dental practitioners.

However, the diagnosis based on the presence of two or more of the defining characteristic criteria in the patients examined with multiple pain locations were frequently reported.

This literature has focused primarily toward evaluating efficiency of different treatment modalities whether single or combination.

Materials and methods : 35 patients, 26 females and 9 males, of 1-3 years duration of complaints, their age ranged from 30-51 years, fulfilling the criteria for MPDS, were participated in this study.

Results : Marked improvement in relieving the symptom complex in the results had been detected among the treated samples who are receiving combined therapy (drugs and physiotherapy) in comparison with the group receiving single therapy (only drugs), despite that few cases that showed mild improvement cured after using neurotropic therapy.
