Eight years comparison of the tooth mobility and furcation involvement of patients with chronic periodontitis receiving no treatment utilizing individual teeth for analysis

Abstract EN

Aim of the study : To compare the tooth mobility and the fraction involvement over a period of eight years during which the patients receiving no treatment.

Method : 60 patients were examined 8 years ago and diagnosed as patients with chronic periodontitis and oral hygiene index was taken for each patient, the teeth that are mobile and having fraction involvement were recorded and the grades of mobility and fraction were recorded according to a tooth mobility and fraction involvement indices, after 8 years those 60 patient were re-examined and the same indices were taken again.

Results : The results show clearly a significant increase in oral hygiene index, and also a significant increase in tooth mobility and the fraction involvement.

Conclusion : The progression of periodontal disease increases over time when patient receiving no treatment, so the periodontal treatment is essential to stop the progression of periodontal disease.
