يعد معرفة انتشار العامل الريصي و أنماطها الظاهرية أمرا بالغ الأهمية بالنسبة لبنوك الدم و خدمات نقل الدم و ذلك لتوفير الكميات المناسبة من الدم في المستشفى.
تم دراسة 2875 عينة دم من أشخاص عراقيين في مصرف الدم التابع للمستشفى التعليمي في البصرة لمعرفة النمط الظاهري للعامل الريصي و كانت النتائج كما يلي : نسبة العامل الريصي الموجب كان (93.01%) و نسبة العامل الريصي السالب كان (6.99%) و أن أنواع النمط الظاهري التي أجريت على 87 عينة دم من فئة (د) السلبي توجد بحسب شيوعها بالترتيب التالي : rr, r11r, r1r11, r1r1, r11r11, ry و لقد تمت مقارنة نتائج هذه الدراسة بنتائج الدراسات الأخرى.
