Postnatal care in alzubair district

Postnatal care is important to promote and monitor both the health of the mother and her baby, to diagnose and treat complications after birth, and to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality.

Postnatal care is provided as part of maternity services in primary health care centres in Iraq, it was found In this study that postnatal care use in Alzubair district was 18.6 % for postpartum women and 69.2 % for their infants.

The main reason for postnatal care for women was presence of a disease, while it was immunization for infants.

There were differences in providing care for both women and their infants between the hospital and home delivering women.

Accordingly, it is recommended that hospital delivery should be encouraged, and effective strategies should be developed to improve postnatal care at primary health care centres.
