Abstract EN

The objective of this paper is to analyze the most important characteristics of work and higher education trips for the staff and students of King Saud University in Riyadh.

In this study, a survey has been conducted in order to find out the origin and destination of trips for the staff, employers, and students of the university.

The pupose of the study is, firstly, to find out the current characteristics of the relationship between the location of King Saud University, and the place of residence for staff, employers, and students.

Secondly, the study examines the current characteristics of trip length, trip mode, and trip distribution.

Analyzing the information gathered from the 2800 respondents, a number of findings has been obtained.

It was found out that a big separation exists between the location of the university and the place of resident for high numbers of staff, employers, and students, as a result of different factors which contribute to this issue.

Secondly, the results of the study indicated a high dependence on private cars as a mode of transport due to the lack of alternatives such as public transport and short distance walking.

In view of the research findings, a number of suggestions and recommendations was put forward to improve work and higher education trips for the staff and students of King Saud University.
