Abstract AR
Abstract EN
The objective of this research is to reexamine the issue of, which accounting information set is more useful for stock valuation purposes in the kingdom of Bahrain, (as a typical Arabian Gulf State).
The basic equity valuation model used in the study is the one developed originally by Ohlson (1995), however, the model was expanded to measure the incremental valuation-information content of three alternative (abnormal) earnings measures.
The sample consists of 32 firms, which are almost all companies listed on Bahrain stock exchange with most complete data for the study period (1995-1997).
The results, based on the modified model's annual as well as pooled results, indicated that abnormal cash dividends per share is the more important consideration to investors when setting market share prices than either the abnormal earnings per share or the abnormal operating cash flows per share.
