Abstract EN
The dispersion stability was examined for alumina particles in solutions of different alkyl methacrylates (methyl, butyl and 2-ethylhexyl) / methacrylic acid copolymers.
It was found that dispersions were settled as good deflocculated suspensions from polymer solution of butyl and 2-ethylhexyl, whereas aggregation was much obvious using methyl methacrylate / methacrylic acid copolymers.
The alumina / polymer interface has been examined by washing process.
The dispersibility of polymer-grafted alumina was resettled in the presence of; fresh toluene solvent, 2 % of poly (BuMA) and 2 % of poly (MMA) homopolymer solutions.
Sedimentation test was used to determine the dispersion quality, which involved measuring the sediment volume of the packed alumina after gravity settling.
The influence of dispersion media and copolymer structure was also studied.
